Ishaan Awasthi is happy in his own little world. For some reason or other, complaints from his teachers and neighbors just never seem to stop flowing in. Math problems turn into animated cartoons featuring himself, while words in English textbooks go on a dancing spree. His parents fail to see why Ishaan is unable to pass on to the next grade while his elder brother is a top student. After all efforts fail, Ishaan is packed off to a boarding school by his father in an effort to discipline him. The academic nightmare continues at his new abode until a substitute art teacher Ram Shankar Nikumbh (Khan) takes up Ishaan's case on his own time.

STARS ON EARTH marks the directorial debut of Aamir Khan, one of Indian cinema's biggest super stars, who acted in and produced the Academy Award nominated LAGAAN. Poignantly written by Amole Gupte, STARS ON EARTH features heartfelt performances by its cast. Khan and his team have swept up a plethora of critical and popular film awards in the recent months with a film that has induced smiles and tears aplenty.
