Director: John Pudaite & Ivan Kostka For over 3,000 years, by mandate of the Hindu religion, a group of people has been relegated to the fringes of Indian society. They have been forced to live and work under sub-human conditions, subjected to violent assaults and rape, and denied human dignity. They are known as harijans (Children of God), Dalits (oppressed), or simply "Untouchables." Today, there is a growing movement among Untouchables to seek the social, economic and spiritual freedom they have long been denied. By renouncing the Hindu religion in favor of Buddhism, Islam, Sikhism and Christianity, their religious conversion has become the primary weapon of a widening revolution -- and the battle has only just begun.
