A young girl, a cat and an elderly couple find their way in this almost surreal story. Lati, the daughter of a prostitute, desperately struggles to continue her education and not succumb to her mother's proscribed destiny. An elderly couple in search of a hospital is chaperoned by an unlikely hero. And an abandoned cat searches for home.

Buddhadeb Dasgupta takes us on a tour of the desolate countryside and invites us to ponder the celebration of life that triumphs in the face of adversity.
