FROZEN tells the story of a Ladhaki family, as the balance of their lives is set in turmoil. Widowed father Karma relies on the production of his homemade apricot jam to support his children. But his livelihood is threatened by the deluge of machine manufactured jam in the local marketplace. The inability to earn money only compounds his debt to local moneylenders. An even greater threat arrives at the family’s doorstep in the form of an army unit sent to protect the nearby border. It soon becomes apparent that the military has designs on the property that would displace the family from their ancestral land.

With FROZEN Shivajee Chandrabhushan establishes himself as a filmmaker to watch. This black and white vision not only captures the starkness of the Ladahki terrain and the visceral state of his characters, but also attests to an exceptional artistry that will leave viewers anticipating his future projects.
