The very foundation of 11-year-old Bunty’s world is shaken due to the divorce of his beloved parents. As if the separation isn’t traumatic enough, he must endure the prospects of his father’s remarriage and his mother budding relationship with a widower with two small children of his own. As everyone around him seems to cope with the onslaught of change, Bunty finds it much more difficult to adjust to the shift in family dynamics and the advent of siblings.
Director Bipin Nadkarni is unafraid to approach difficult subject matter as evidenced by his debut feature, UTTARAYAN, which dealt with middle-aged romance and second marriages. With A HOME IN THE SKY, his sensitive approach to the turbulent nature of divorce, told from a child’s point of view, strikes a tone of authenticity with its contemporary themes and universal appeal.
