This raw documentary focuses on the young girls whose families indenture them to perform in India's oldest traveling circus. Interviews with the girls, performers and circus owners provide insight into the world that they inhabit, where there is the promise of a better life for many: food, shelter and the chance to be respected.

On the surface, it is a simple but hard life. Payments to the girls' families are deducted from their small monthly earnings. These young girls, most of who are under "contract," are both protected and held captive from the outside world by their servitude. Yet, there is no provision for education and most awareness comes from watching television. And one wonders: What becomes of these children once they return to their homes?
